Mahalaya Amavasya is falling on 25th September.

It’s the last day of Pitru paksha. Normally on Mahalaya Amavasya Sarva Pitru are prayed hence also known as Sarva Pitru Amavasya.

Many times people don’t know the exact thithi of their Pitru shradh in such cases Pitru can be worshiped on Sarva Pitru Amavasya or Mahalaya Amavasya.

On the last day of Pitru paksha, all Pitru worshiped and are sent back to their lok and their blessings are sought.

After Mahalaya Amavasya Pitru paksha ends and from the next day 10 days Shardiya Navratri Mahotsav began.

On the last day of Pitru paksha in a few parts of eastern India puja of Durga begins in daughter Swaroop. The final touch to the Durga idol is given on this day.
